How we approached it.
The challenge
Most focus timers are easy to ignore. The phase change is a quiet chime you miss, and nothing actually stops you from opening the apps you were trying to avoid. We wanted a calm timer with a real edge: an alert that gets your attention, paired with a block that holds.
Our approach
We scoped a tight MVP around that one idea and built it native for iOS. The timer is driven by phase end dates rather than a running clock, so the countdown survives the app being backgrounded or closed. Each system feature falls back gracefully when the device doesn't support it yet.
What we built
A SwiftUI app with a focus and break cycle, a Screen Time app block that switches on during focus, an alarm-grade transition alert, a Live Activity so the session stays on the Lock Screen, a stats view, and StoreKit 2 subscriptions with a free trial. It collects no user data.
The outcome
A polished, submission-ready native app built in one focused sprint, with a clear technical edge that sets it apart from every other timer in the category.
